If you want a good garden right away, a raised bed might be the ticket. I'm working on what once was landscaped sand.

We used “untreated” cedar 6X2X8’s to make frames approx. 4X8’, (just use deck screws for the corners), dug the lawn and assorted rocks out of the base. We placed the frame over the bed. We made 4, and filled two with good soil and compost, and filled two with a mix of vermiculite, peat moss, and compost. I am happy with both types so far.

Nice! Good looking dog, too.

What do you know about Lingenberries? I understand that they are grown in Canada (as well as Sweden, Norway, and Washington State.)

I had Lingenberry Crepes for lunch, and I’m really hot for Lingenberries. If you look them up on the Web, they grow on a really cute little bush that you can train into an 18” hedge. Much prettier than plain old boxwood.

Thanks for the pictures. Nice looking terraces too. Which bed does best the mel’s mix type or the other?
