If you read up on it you will see that the greenies want to stop us using these roads and eventually want them returned to pasture/forests etc. Charging people will mean less travel until they are not used for recreation purposes but purely for need i’e’ trucks etc - they want us locked into our little areas only travelling to and from by public transport etc.

It may have been the beginning of big government but why should people have to pay for a road twice. Unless the government wish to return people their money either by tax cuts or directly then why should they sell off and asset without people seeing a direct credit to them - especially when they will be charged to use that asset they already own in the future.

I know what you mean in that respect. This idea on its face is obviously more and bigger government.
