Whatever heavy elements were in our neighborhood 4.5 billion years ago were mostly sucked up by the Sun and outer planets. The ones like gold and uranium, lead, etc. probably sank into the molten core of the earth when it’s surface was still molten, only to be diffused into the mantle and eventually the crust through volcanic action over the epochs.........

Almost all the heavy elements on the surface arrived later through meteor and comet impacts. Some of them arrived soon enough after the Iron Catastrophe to have been widely dispersed. Many others left discrete deposits behind ~ one is in the object referred to as the Golden Egg in the mouth of the Serpent Mound in Ohio.
