Not me :-) Happy with my 'obsolete' D3000.
[the D600 has had a lot of problems, unusual for Nikon but me thinks it's a lemon model]

Yeah, I have a D600...and a D800, and a D7000. No problems with the D600 so far, the D800 seems to have the left focus sensor issue. The D7000 has been flawless except now there is a white circle appearing in the same location in some pics. I may have burned a hole in something shooting the eclipse in June.

Beautiful images. A little heavy on the post-processing for my taste, at least on some, but a great eye for composition.

The guy was way heavy on post processing.
I like that stuff sometimes.
Watercolors or oil, for classic compositions such as lantermans mill, but that guy went over board on most of them.

black velvet painting is not a good look for classic composition LOL

I did like this long exposure with slight post processing.

One thing I like about the one in post #25 is that it it still has an eye for classic BW composition.
Note the bare trees in the back ground.
I would have toned down the warm effect in the foreground a bit

It is hard to beat natural Autumn

But that fellow was onto something with the warm in winter even if he took it too far.

I just bought a Nikon D5100 and am waiting for it to arrive... I’ve never seen it in person! I am upgrading from my D40 which I love (I have taken some drop-dead gorgeous pics with it) but it frankly doesn’t AF fast enough and seems to get confused from time to time. Rather than take it to shops etc I decided to bite the bullet and upgrade to a body that’ll do video as well for some projects I’m working on. In any case, I sure am hoping the D5100 is all it’s cracked up to be... I found it with 2 VR lenses as part of a refurb kit for about $700. Evidently D5100s are a good buy right now because Nikon has introduced the D600... In any case I am grateful to you FRiends for comments, guidance, and tidbits of advice.

The D5100 is good excellent. That is a 'Nikon'. But personally I wouldn't get one, for the same reason I passed on the D3100(1) -- the video function.

As many pros say (or said): If you want to take photographs buy a camera. If you want to take videos, buy a camcorder. I like my cameras 'minimalistic', where I still have a lot fair amount of control. It took me a long time to switch from my Nikon FE to digital [I'm a bit of a Luddite].

(1) And going to a full frame digital was out of the question, couldn't justify the cost. I need money for Fender Guitars too ;-)

Your living room must look like mine! Listen: I stayed away from DSLRs until the very last minute. I was an OM4 FE / F3 guy ‘til the very end. Problem was, I had a baby, and the “end” came fast! I am really excited about this machine and for me it is a major investment. Your thumbs-up means a lot to me. Thanks - and - you’re right. Sincerely, a G&L ‘Tele’ aficionado.

I like all of those. I’m sure there’s some HDR going on there.

I need to find a good way to post some of my stuff to FR. I wish you could just link to the path on your computer. I don’t like having to post them to some online storage sites. I hate the thought of them being ripped off.

Any suggestions? It would be nice to have a monthly photo thread or something around here. Politics is too depressing lately. :-)

I’m looking to get the P7700. It has had great reviews.
