Alex Smith: You suck.

In his last full outing, Smith completed 18 of 19 passes in a 24-3 win at Arizona, earning him a first-career NFC Offensive Player of the Week award.

What the hell more is the guy supposed to do? Frankly I do feel bad for Alex. He just can't seem to catch a break. For the fisrt few years of his career he was put back into the the game while still injured, never had the same offensive coordinator two years in a row, and played for some awful coaches. So he finally gets some good management, takes the team to the NFC Championship game last year, has them 6-2 this year and loses his starting job due to getting a concussion? I don't think it's whining to say that sucks, because it does.

Unfortunately, that is exactly Smith’s problem, he just isn’t very exciting. He’s the Wally Cleaver of NFL QB’s.

Stats only tell a part of the story. Smith was playing good this season, but he has limited awareness in the pocket, and checks down to safe receivers too often. When a play breaks down, Smith gets tackled or throws the ball away. Kap scrambles and makes a play.

It’s a ballsy move by Harbaugh. He’s going to look stupid if the league gets Kap figured out. In some ways it’s similar to when Montana replace Steve Deberg as the 9ers starting QB. The difference is that Walsh made the move with a losing team. This years 9ers are well on their way to the playoffs.

I do feel bad for Smith. He’s a good kid and a pretty good QB. Then again Wally Pip was probably a good guy, too. Hopefully, Smith can go to a team that needs a starter.

He just can't seem to catch a break.

Can't catch a break? I think he's had more breaks than any QB in the history of the NFL. The 49ers kept him for a 7th season after being terrible for 6 years. I defy you to name any other QB who lasted as long with one team through such terrible performance. Even Al Davis gave up on Jamarcus Russell way sooner than that. Every year, he was supposed to get dropped, and they kept him. He got Mike Nolan and Mike Singletary fired, because they stuck by him. In 2011, they minimized their offense in such a way he could play, but mostly they won in spite of him, not because of him. In the off season, not one since team wanted Smith. (The Dolphins worked him out, and then went screaming in the other direction. After hearing about the workout, Seattle cancelled their workout with Smith, and signed Flynn, who had one good game, to a large contract. Smith had more lives than a sack of cats.

May I remind everyone, Joe Montana lost his job because of injury, and he was the greatest QB ever.I don't know what blackmail material Smith has on the Yorks, but it must be something terrible.

[Let me just say, I only oppose Smith as a player. He seems like a very nice guy, and I think he's great everywhere else besides the field]
