According to this logic, we should give mail carriers, meter readers, and so on, guns to shoot dogs.
I understand that dogs can be a danger in certain situations (one of my daughter’s Yorkies would tear the ankle off anyone who tried to enter her house), but why can’t the police use other non-deadly force to deal with dogs that present a real threat?
Do you suppose that's why the USPS got it's share of 1.8 BILLION rounds of .40 HP pistol ammo?
The police are often little different than the criminals they interact with, they will do whatever they can get away with. USPS never has to shoot a dog.
