What’s the big deal? Everybody should just raise their debt ceiling.
You know, like the government.
IF THERE IS A CREDIT FREEZE, TRUCKS STOP!
I’m ready if trucks stop.
"The fizzling emerging market story is a key reason why the West has relapsed this year. The world is now facing a synchronized downturn on all fronts, with little scope for fiscal and monetary stimulus."
I can not see anyway possible for America to return to be the country that I grew up in, and I would not want to prep to live in USSA Hell.
I started international travel in 1999, first living in central Europe, and now well settled in the Philippines for the last four years..
If for some reason SHTF here, I can bail out to another island group, or wherever.
I have very few material things to worry about, but I have a very happy life on the beach with my wife and our 18 month old baby boy.
I have not been back in the USSA since Jan. 2005
Thanks for pinging the threads. Will study them.
Many of us have prepared well (and continue to do so), but the reality is we still hold mortgages on our houses that we cannot pay off quickly.
If it is a total economic collapse and the banks close - they cannot take in or record mortgage payments - how does that work for those of us who do not own our houses outright?
Do they still attempt to foreclose on millions of houses the "old-fashioned" way?
Or will there not really be any machinery in place to affect that, so we just "stay put" until if/when the world economy rights itself.
Any thoughts, ideas?
Good info on the inverter. Can anyone explain how natural gas is delivered? I’ve got gas fireplaces, range, furnace and water heater. In ten years, we’ve only had one electricity outage (only for a couple hours due to a freak situation at a transformer.) but it was well below zero at the time. The furnace requires electricity to run the blower. We just turned the fireplaces on. However, in the case of a lengthy or widespread electric outage, would the gas be shut down as well?
This is obvious, but worth posting for emphasis:
Today’s events in the Middle East have the potential to escalate to a SHTF scenario.
That does NOT mean they will, but anyone who thinks the potential is not real is living in denial.
None of us knew this was going to happen today, and none of us knows where this is going.
AT A MINIMUM, TODAY IS AN EXAMPLE OF WHY IT IS IMPORTANT TO BE READY IN ADVANCE. Once a true SHTF scenario is clear to everyone it will be too late to prepare.
