Don’t worry, when we meet by chance scrounging for potato peels in the cans behind the FEMA camp dining hall, I’ll remind you of this thread and we’ll both have a laugh.
Tijeras, it is only by the Grace of God that I am not there right now. My house got flooded by Sandy, but in the town 2 over from me there are houses that aren’t there anymore at all. In Staten Island they are dumpster diving.
But of course, those in need are white people and the president is Obama, and chris Christie will rue the day he boosted Barack.
I told my daughter the other day: the moral of the story is: don’t EVER be dependent on the government, you’ll end up cold and hungry.
Our tremendously good friends have helped us SO MUCH through this storm. I don’t want to put their names out here, but B. & T. have truly been life & sanity savers. Their kindness is truly a mitzvah and can never be repaid.
And, back on topic, we went out to dinner with them the other day, got merely adequate service and left a 15% tip!
