If you are reading this you know who the Unknown is, if you are just browsing, he is the King of Swingbilly, a very talented guitarist. He plays a variey of styles from country to rockabilly to metal. He has a great sense of humor in his music too, you cant help but to laugh. Do a search for him on Youtube and get ready to be entertained!
He had been quite active on his Facebook presence about the the squeeze that is put on small business, be it a hardware store or a traveling music act.
I received an email today, the Unknown is calling it quits. The final show is November 17th in Covington, KY which is across the river from Cincinnati.
The email is:
Hi Folks, Please come on out for a swing with the King in Richmond on Mov 10 at the Capital Ale House. This will be one of the last shows Unknown ever plays. He will retire from the road after this show on 11/17/12. Next weekend will be Ft. Wayne, In Nov 15, Evanston on Nov 16 and the final show in Covington on Nov 17... . Please come out and give us your farewell blessings. The road is just too expensive, and we've been in the red financially this year - it can't go on if gas, hotels, taxes, agent fees and band payroll continue to rise. We'll have to cut our losses and figure out something else to do. A new career - pretty exciting for a couple of old geezers like us. We love our fans, thanks so much for sticking with us for 17 years. It's time to change the station. The amazing number of wonderful friendships we've developed over the years sure helps to numb the pain of giving up on a dream. We're survivors - we'll be back in some capacity, who knows what - magician, ventriloquist, being shot out of a cannon. And we still have that Unknown Hinson DVD to finish and distribute. Love to all, Unknown Hinson and Margo Baker
Any area Freepers that are going to go to the show, let me know.
HOORAY Unknown Hinson! Prepare. Persevere.
As long as he still has the Early Cuyler gig!
Go on, have a drink, be somebody!
He left Squidbillies, Cartoon Network wasnt paying him and he want getting any royalties from DVD sales. He made a big stink of it on his Facebook (which was deactivated the day after the election) earlier this year.
Do not touch the trim!
