It’s not viable to raise your chickens for eating.
Their purpose is to turn table scraps into egg protein.
For meat, it’s rabbits. Rabbits and chickens are necessary survival tools. Rabbits have the added benefit of making superior compost.
And, glad to hear that you’re in a place where you can have “livestock”, that’s a big leg up.
