BTW, the tube fed Marlin and Winchester rifles are excellent substitutes. The Mossberg plinkster is a copy of the Marlin 60 .22lr action but uses a detachable magazine. The lever action tube fed .357 rifles are excellent home defense weapons. Believe it or not, the High Point 9mm pistol is a very reliable shooter and very inexpensive to own. The Maverick 88 shotgun in 20 or 12 is also very inexpensive and reliable. I think you can still get the Maverick 88 12 gage with two barrels, too. The 18 1/2 is great for home defense and the longer is great for hunting ... and shotgun shells are easy to reload if you have powder and shot or slug. The plastic wadding inserts are cheap and a good item to stock for future use if needed.
