Clinton's Reelection vs. Obama's Reelection

I was a youngster when Clinton was reelected and I don't really recall the sentiment at the time so I was just curious...was there this much doom and gloom when he was reelected?

To me, this just seems like a watershed moment in this country-a paradigm sift and not in a good.

Well first off, Dole and Kemp were practically incoherent at times during the campaign that its was foregone conclusion on election day. Anybody remember Kemp thanking Gore after Gore said Kemp was the only non-racist in the GOP. At that point we knew the game was over, and headed for the parking lot.

Not as bad but it was pretty intense. Whereas Obama’s film against him is 2016, Clinton’s was The Clinton Chronicles. Take a look at it if you can.

No there wasn’t. Barely even noticed. After the GOP landslide of ‘94, Slick saw which way the wind was blowing (pun intended) and got more in line. Uber-RINO Dole was DOA.

The only time I’ve seen this much wailing and gnashing of teeth was by the libs after Kerry lost.

Not as bad because it was expected by election day and as others have said the GOP ticket was terrible.

Not nearly as much doom and gloom. For one thing, the loss wasn’t a shock - Dole was a terrible candidate. Also, Clinton would coop conservative ideaa - like his ‘middle class tax cut’...contrast that to Barry’s all out class warfare. Clinton also used fairly ‘small’ ideas to rally his base. The family medical leave act, for example, is a mere flea compared to the locust storm that Barrycare is. Also, Clintoncare had been handily struck down, so there was no danger of that coming back.

Finally, I have a litmus test question that I wish all candidates had to answer: Do you unequivically believe that the United States is the greatest nation to ever grace this earth, and is currently the most important force for ‘good’ in this world?

I have always thought Bubba would say yes. Barry, on the other hand, would refuse to answer the question. That is what makes me very wary of Obama.

Nowhere near as much. Clinton wasn’t this disliked by Republicans, even if sites like this cut their teeth in opposition to him. Everybody knew he was a crook, but crooks can be reasoned with and deals can be done.

It was a big deal, yes. The election polls were predicting a Clinton victory of 20 points or more, and for the Democrats to take the House and Senate.

The hapless Dole kept Cinton to under 50%, and the GOP kept its House and Senate majorities. So in a way, it felt like a moral victory.

The other point is Clinton won by moving to the center. Obama ran as an unabashed leftist. And the demographics have moved against the GOP.

So this does seem like a much bigger deal.

We were mad, but no there was not the “doom” of Obama.

Socialized medicine was not the law of the land, so there was no compelling law that had to be imminently overturned or see our nation doomed. Obamacare is insidious so the states are much higher this time around.

But there are a lot of other differences.

Clinton was dangerous but Obama is catastropic.

Clinton failed to install socialism and ended up co-opting Republican goals so he could take credit for them. His damage was limited to some treason in giving secrets to the Chinese, locking up some of our resources under UN control, etc.

Obama has installed soft socialism with Obamacare.

He has supported radical Islamic Jihad world wide.

He is crushing the US military.

He is destroying the middle class.

He is soaring the US deficit with an aim of collapsing the US economy.

He is destroying the energy sector.

He is transferring trillions of dollars to slackers, bums and parasites, making those entitlements permanent.

Obama is collapsing and transforming the USA into Italy on its way to China.

That is why the feeling of “Doom”. As long as Clinton was happy banging a parade of interns and socialites, his damage was limited to harmful changes but not catastrophic changes.

Obama is destroying the USA we know, and we will be too weak to rebuild on the foundation.

Think of it like the stock market. If you had 10 million dollars in the stock market and you screw up and lose half, well you still have 5 million dollars to invest. The sky is still the limit if you make savvy choices investing that 5 million dollars.

Now imagine you lost all 10 million dollars but $10,000. Starting off with 10,000 dollars in the stock market, you are pretty much hamstrung to get back to 10 million. You just don’t have enough to work with.

That is Obama’s goal and what he is going to achieve. He is going to set us back far enough with financial debt that we just can’t dig out of it without collapse.

As long as we have hard working moral people, we will eventually come out of it. I know this much, the numbers of people who are both moral and hard working are rapidly dwindling.

I’d beg to differ on that. Clinton was personally loathed and hated on just about every level.

Well, by some, certainly, but not by as many people as in today’s case. Or that was my impression anyway. A liar, a cheat, certainly. But it seems to me that he was all about himself in the end, and therefore much less dangerous to us all.

We knew for months that Clinton would get re-elected. I think they called the race for him like at 7:30 in the evening.

Yeah, I thought maybe we'd pull out a miracle in 1996, but the fact is, the economy was doing pretty well at the time, and Lewinsky hadn't happened yet. Additionally, the internet existed, but it wasn't the dynamo it is now. Heck FR didn't come into existence until a year later.

It was disappointing, but NOTHING compared to last night.

I was shocked and dismayed at Clinton’s re-election. The first time, I felt bad that the majority of Americans were so stupid. But the second time, “stupid” was not an excuse.

Not all Americans are patriots. Not by a long shot. And there is nothing new under the sun.

No. This cements Obamacare and probably gives his two more SCOTUS appointments. This screws my grandchildren, my only motive this election.

If Ross Perot had mot run as a third party candidate, BJ would have never been elected in 1992.
