Sheriff Joe Wins Big; Other Immigration Warriors Prevail Nationwide (Silver Linings)

Stand With Arizona

Barack Obama was re-elected last night. Yes, it sucks. Big time.

Ok, that's enough. Boo freakin' hoo. We don't have the luxury of self-pity, or bellyaching. It's time to double down and fight on. Illegal immigration is an existential threat to the U.S. And we will never give up on this nation.

Besides, it wasn't all disappointment last night. Some very good friends of SWA did just fine despite massive opposition, principally among them, Sheriff Joe Arpaio - by far the most prominent national symbol in the fight against illegal immigration.

Sheriff Joe faced by far the toughest battle of his career, as leftist billionaire George Soros opened his checkbook against Joe, huge national unions bused in 900 activists to register 34,000 Latino voters to try and knock him off, and ABC News and the New York Times hammered Joe with campaign ads posing as "journalism" to try and defeat a great patriot.

They all failed - miserably. Joe Arpaio defeated his opponent last night by 10 percentage points. We were thrilled to do our part in this campaign. SWA does not have the checkbook of Soros, nor the paid activists of the unions. But we do have nearly 100,000 members in Arizona who went to work - voting, calling, canvassing - working tirelessly to make sure America's Sheriff stayed on the job another 4 years. And it paid off. We are very proud of all of our members' efforts today. Thank you all!

Way to go, Sheriff Joe!

But Joe was by no means alone. Another patriot who stood firm for the rule of law on immigration, our very good friend Rep. Steve King (R-IA, see above), also prevailed, despite being hammered with outside cash, against a popular former first lady of Iowa, and in a state which Barack Obama carried by 6%.

Steve King is by far the strongest opponent of illegal immigration in the Congress. He routinely takes on the open-borders lobby, pushing mandatory E-Verify bills, suing Obama over his lawless amnesty decree for so-called "Dreamers", and pushing a ban on birthright citizenship for illegals that even made the milquetoast Republican establishment cringe.

And outside groups hammered Steve relentlessly as a nutjob and racist against Latinos, and an obstacle to cheap labor for its many meatpacking plants. They redrew his district. They put up the wife of a popular former Governor against him and gave her millions.

It all failed. Steve King won handily - like Joe by 10% - even though he usually wins by 20%. And in the next Congress, Steve will be the new Immigration Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee. We were proud to give Steve all the help he needed. when he asked SWA to help boost his Facebook page last year, we added 5,000 fans in 24 hours. When they needed volunteers to canvass, we organized 20 SWA-Iowa members to do that job, and more. We stand by our allies in the cause. And there is no greater ally than Rep. King.

Way to go, Steve!

And several more stalwarts against illegal immigration prevailed last night. Most prominent amongst them:

There were other victories last night which we will detail tomorrow.

The fight now moves to the states, where a record 30 Republican governors are in place after this election. And to the Congress, where Reps. like King, Bachmann and Cruz can join other rule of law legislators to fight Obama's amnesty plans tooth and nail. And in the courts, where the ICE agents' union and Rep. King are suing to reverse Obama's "deferred action" decree.

We will never stop fighting. Obama's re-election changes nothing for us. When SWA and our allies pushed through S.B. 1070 in March-April 2010, Obama still had 3 years to go in his first term. And now he only has 4 more, then he is gone. But we will always be right here, fighting to restore the rule of law, stop lawless amnesty, protect American workers from illegal laborers, and protect taxpayers from illegals who bankrupt schools, hospitals and social services from coast-to-coast.

Do not despair. Our nation needs our steadfast resolve. Keep fighting with us.

If YOU stand with Sheriff Joe and Gov. Brewer, and against illegal immigration,
then put your name where your heart is, and join the 160,000 who have signed the petition...

And Reagan was about 72 I think when he finally won the presidency. We need a real charismatic conservative. No more milk toast republicans!

Perhaps this is the bit that we miss as Conservatives:

for whatever reasons, our nation has left behind the iron laws of human nature upon which was built the greatest engine of prosperity this poor, shivering, starving human race has ever seen.

We Hate the Liberals for their notions of Utopianism but ignore our own aspirations to do the same thing. As a conservative I always build on Human nature, but as a human, I often find that God has good belly laugh when I suppose I know better.

Sheriff Joe winning and Romney losing just convinces me more that Romney votes were stolen. Each battleground state had about 2 counties they kept saying “Romney has to win”. He didn’t win them. I think it was rigged.

Hey, another victory Tues goes to Deb Fischer of Nebraska beating Bob Kerry (Harry Reid’s pet) by 16 pts. It makes losing Allen West and Mia Love’s defeat in Utah a little less painful.

I love Sheriff Joe. With the Justice Dept. coming after him he proves that it’s impossible to intimidate him or his constituents.

It seems that this election changed nothing, for good or for bad. All the incumbents seems to keep their seats, with a few sad exceptions.

Still, enormously glad that the good Sheriff won.

Now we are obligated to give the illegals free healthcare and welfare, so we more of them coming for the freebies. Before, most of them came to work and have opportunity to better themselves.

Another bit of good news...

Here in Virginia (sorry we didn’t deliver on Tuesday), we passed a provision that stipulates narrow requirements for eminent domain. What happened in the Kelo case will not happen here.

I Understand Reagan’s angle and even agreed with him, but it just is not working.

I find it interesting that Reagan signed amnesty into law two days after the 1986 election, so he never faced voters on the issue.

I just came upon this article , which maybe something to ponder.

Amnesty for Illegals Doesn’t Win Hispanic Votes

Here's a couple of excerpts:

The largest amnesty in history was the 1986 amnesty, which legalized 3 million illegal aliens, most of whom were Hispanic. The first presidential election in which they were eligible to vote was in 1996. The Republican candidate that year was Bob Dole — the man who had been majority leader in the Senate in 1986 and helped pass the amnesty. The chief author of that amnesty was also a Republican, Sen. Alan Simpson. And that amnesty was signed into law by another Republican — President Reagan. So, you would think there was resounding Hispanic support and gratitude for the Republican candidate in 1996. Wrong. Only 21 percent of Hispanics voted for the Republican.

In this election, 74 percent of the voters were white, 13 percent were black, 9 percent Hispanic, 2 percent Asian, etc. To put it bluntly, given such a vast majority of white voters, you have to wonder why ethnic pandering would be needed at all for Republicans to win elections. What the Republicans need is a return to the conservative values that brought many victories in the past. Republicans could once again attract a resounding majority consisting of white voters and self-reliant nonwhites by loudly propounding economic and social policies that favor middle-class financial security and prosperity. But supporting liberal immigration policies is not the way. There is simply no evidence that liberal immigration policies ever made middle-class voters feel secure and prosperous.
