Thank you for posting this! I almost agree 100%, and I’ll explain my doubt.

The GOP throws all their weight behind the moderates in the primary cycles. The media, all too adverse to conservatives, gladly does their part, only to turn on said candidate for the Democrat come the general election. They use the tired, worn out lines that the independents won’t support a conservative. A conservative is too extreme, too out of touch, they say, to ever win in the general. Ususally conservative candidates split the vote, so this helps, and there are too many people who go along with the GOP and media. They figure, this guy is seemingly the most popular, so I should support him.

I said after Romney got the nomination that the GOP had once again given us another moderate candidate, and we’d see just how well it would work out this time. I was very skeptical. Sure enough. When you run a liberal lite against a liberal, people are going to pick the real thing. Now Romney did move to the right in the primaries, but his entire record contradicted that, and then he centered out some for the general. The libs were able to use terms like “Romneysia” to call into question the discrepancies between his past and how was running for the election.

The odd thing is, despite how adamantly opposed to Romney I was in the primary, he did grow on me, and I did believe that he, if he stayed true to the principles he espoused while campaigning, could turn this economy around.

That said, my doubt comes in that, maybe the demographics of this country are such and the beliefs of many Americans are such, that people simply want such a big government, that conservatives may be in trouble.

Romney was another Liberal train wreak in the wake of McCain.
