Did you really think that Virginia, with those legions of
people on the Federal Government paycheck gravy train, were
going to vote for Romney?

Exactly. The D liberal was more popular than the R liberal.

Your post nailed it.

There simply aren’t enough of us left any more, and it is only going to get worse going forward.

I knew demographics would make this race close. I had no clue they would obliterate us so badly in turnout.

I am not sure we ever win another presidential election in our lifetimes.

What happened?

Same old story, when the American voter has a choice between a liberal Dim and a liberal Republican they choose the liberal Dim every time....

Romney WAS the RINO on the ticket. Didn’t need another.

In addition, we’re in the “high” part of our debt addiction. Unemployment is slightly down and the stock market is 48% higher than at the end of 2008. The crash will come later, but Latin American economies have had decade-long booms from debt binges. Heck - we had a seven-year high from the mortgage debt binge that started in late 2001 before it came crashing down in 2008. If the market had dropped 2000 points in the final month of the campaign, Romney would have won.

Quite simple, the GOP needs to drop the social zealots and stop ignoring the minirities. The GOP can not win the whithouse by only relying on white males.

75% of the Latino vote went to Obama. 93+% of the black vote went for Obama. I’m not sure about the female vote, but that went for Obama as well.

Until those numbers change, the Democrats own the whitehouse from now until the end of time. Start by kicking the bedroom police arm of the GOP to the curb.

RINOs have no problem winning red states. McCain and GWB certainly did.

No - there were 4 years after 2008 to build a bench and layout a good message. Conservatives just didn’t - they assumed that voters would see through the Obama mess. Voters just didnt

“I don’t think I have ever seen an election go so far against the anecdotal evidence.”

That is exactly the problem right there. Lots of people here fell into the same trap dems fell into in 2004. They believed in a mythical momentum because they refused to look outside their normal sources and were positive Kerry would win.

If you look at my post history, I used the lessons of 2010 where Gallup and Rasmussen screwed with the party ID numbers and were consequently waaay off on the final.

The point is, don’t put faith in anecdotes. Put faith in social science, statistics and data. Nate Silver was dead on on every single thing he projected and it was disbelief or denial to ignore that data when all he was doing was crunching numbers, not rallying a liberal cause.

I tried to call out Drudge as a Baghdad Bob, Michael Barone as a snakoil salesman and Gallup and Rasmussen as arrogant pollsters who had no business screwing with party ID numbers that are and always have been FLUID, NOT static.

The polls and Nate Silver identified that the white vote would be 72% of the electorate this year, 2 less than 2008 and 4 less than 2004. Gallup predicted 78%...they bent the data!

All the while the black vote remained 13% and the hispanic share of the electorate has increased 2 to 3 points each election cycle. All the mainstream polls stated this and no one here would believe it no matter how loud we yelled. The whole demographics are not in our favor is not anecdotal, it is real and we have devastating evidence of it tonight. We have GOT to find a way to deal with this fact as a party or forget about a party altogether and start anew.

I disagree with that statement 100%..

I still say we didnt nominate a true Conservative. Romney had so much ammunition to kill the O campaign and played it too safe. Just like Mccain did...

What happened is that your state, along with Maryland has prospered off the sweat of the rest of us. Virginia is one big welfare queen.

Never mind. I forgot what is enough when I posted:

It is enough that the people know there was an election.
The people who cast the votes decide nothing.
The people who count the votes decide everything. ~ Joseph Stalin

Simple really. The looters and moochers apparently retained enough of a sense of shame to keep quiet about their political predilections but were still venal enough to follow through with them. On second thought, maybe it was more guile than shame. I fear the only way out now is systemic collapse. We may have to literally starve off the ticks if we’re ever to be free of them again. They’ll certainly not voluntarily vote themselves smaller pensions and fewer benefits, or lower salaries. Not out of shame at bleeding the rest of us dry. Not out of concern over the debasement of a once great currency. Nope, they’ll suck our blood till they hit the marrow and then try for a bite of that. They must be destroyed root and branch.

massive voter fraud, along with foreign money is destroying this country...purposely! UNLESS this is somehow undone....
and all co-conspirators are reviled,we are in for very bad times. If most thought that the country was divided, they have just witnessed the break......

They're not all moochers. I know a number of independents who don't like the GOP's stands on social issues. They're also well-off enough that taxes are less of an issue than those stands.
