Missouri Sen. Claire McCaskill secured a second term in the Senate, defeating Republican challenger Todd Akin in a hard-fought contest that gained national attention over controversial remarks about rape and pregnancy.

Todd Akin cost us a very much needed seat in the Senate. He should have dropped out - regardless of the fact that I think his remarks received way too much liberal media spin. He should have known - but didn’t care enough for this country to let someone else run.
I’m feeling very sick right now.
But but he was conservative! And the Republican party abandoned him!
Yeah...time to better screen our candidates before they act a fool and cost us elections.
Todd Akin probably cost us the whole election. He should have kept his damned mouth shut. He allowed Obama and the Dems to give a face to the “war on women” meme that they were trying to push in this election. Curses on him for being so stupid.
It was the GOPe that should be catching your HELL for this loss. THey are the fu_kers that did the ciruclar firing squad on him in front of God and the damn media because he is too conservative! The GOPe does NOT want the likes of us!
Todd akin will, ultimately, be the best thing to happen to the pro-choice movement since Roe v. Wade.
Yes, I am sick too, sick and tired of freepers blaming the Republican party for Akin’s blunder.
I know Akin is a good Christian and pro-life, but he was too arrogant and fancied himself the only option and appointed by God to defeat McCaskill.
Pride goeth before a fall.
I predicted a 10 point minimum loss when I heard him open his stupid mouth.
Where are all of Akin’s defenders now that their purity plan has played out?
Blaming everyone but the person responsible for the loss: Akin.
Novice candidates unable to keep the stupidity in their closets have cost the GOP control of the Senate over the past two election cycles. People can moan about Akin not getting support or whatever, but what he said was ridiculously stupid and his decision to not bow out immediately has done nothing but give us six more years of Claire McCaskill. Good job Todd!
You are as delusional as Todd Akin and his campaign manager wife.
I am not at all surprised the likes of you and other Akinites are attacking rather than accepting Todd Akin should've heeded calls to resign from folks across all the GOP, Tea Party and conservative spectrum.
Nutjob Akin believed God had chosen him for the U.S. Senate.
THIS is his epitaph.
