TV Land celebrates election day with election-themed episodes from 8-12:30AM ET.
""Murder, She Wrote "The Body Politic"
9:12 AM Leave It to Beaver "Wally's Election"
9:48 AM The Dick Van Dyke Show "I Do Not Choose to Run"
10:24 AM The Dick Van Dyke Show "The Making of a Councilman"
11:00 AM I Love Lucy "The Club Election"
11:30 AM The Andy Griffith Show "Ellie for Council"
12:00 Noon: The Andy Griffith Show "Barney Runs for Sheriff"""
That’s a good idea. I always liked “theme” marathons. Unfortunately, TVLand’s library of old shows to choose from has become so paltry. It really limits them. Anyway, there are so many election-themed episodes of old shows. I recall a first-season “Mannix” episode involving a candidate running for office. “Patty Duke Show” had the two girls campaigning for a politician once. “Have Gun Will Travel” had a small-town election episode. Wasn’t there even an episode of “Gilligan’s Island,” of all things, in which a vote was taken, resulting in Gilligan being made sheriff of the island? Heck, seems like almost every series had a qualifying episode.
I remember one where they were running against each other for class president, or some such office. It was a knock down, drag out campaign between the two cousins, but a third candidate won with a short concise speech: "Vote for me". It's probably been 45 years since I saw that, but it made an impression on me.
Two look alike candidates are just gonna split the vote anyway.
I remember all of those TV Land shows on tonite
The episode with Barney running for sherrif was
one of my favorite episodes
Can`t remember any elections ever on LHOTP tho
I remember that Patty Duke episode
Your memory of that episode is quite accurate. I believe all the old family sitcoms tended to have an episode where a kid is involved in some class prez/student council election. The one from “The Patty Duke Show,” however, is actually one of the best. Pretty funny, with the two cousins, with their differing personalities, competing with each other.
