BETO O'ROURKE IS GOING TO MAKE LAWS FOR YOU

Fellow FReepers, this is as bad as it gets. You would think that a newbie who had just defeated a sitting US Representative (Congressman Sylvestre Reyes) of some prominence, dubious as it may be, would come into the election with somewhat of a squeaky clean record. BUT not from El Paso. El Paso doesn’t care who represents them in Congress. They don’t care who makes laws for you or who spends your money. We are a town with about 80% Democrats and they are still running radio ads accusing Republicans of trying to keep them from voting. Give me a break. This guy is something else. The Republican running against him went on the attack and he basically told her she wasn’t getting her facts straight. She accused him of being arrested three times on charges of burglary and drunken driving. He says she’s lying because he’s only been arrested twice. Uh. He had ethics complaints against him while serving as a city councilman. The three counts alleged that he had conflicts of interest related to his father-in-law, who was co-chairman of a downtown development Task Force. That task force helped create the plans for a new downtown. He voted to overturn the vote of the people after they voted to deny health benefits to Gay partners. He accused the public of not understanding the wording on the ballot. When challenged by his Catholic constituents (the Rev. Michael Rodriguez who has since been transferred to a church in Presidio by Bishop Armando X. Ochoa for taking part in the recall effort) for overturning the vote of the people, O’Rourke said, “"One of the great things about our Catholic faith is that we have a final authority on Earth.” There are other things but you wouldn’t believe it. He also wants to legalize marijuana.

He’s going to write laws for you to obey, folks. He’s going to spend your money. Oh, yeah, these were the headlines a few years ago about his mother: IRS agents raid Charlotte's Furniture, remove documents.

May I add that we sit at the doorstep of the largest military base in the free world. We are next door to the Mexican city where Fast and Furious weapons took the lives of kids at a birthday party.

Maybe life will never improve here for these hard-working Americans. The El Paso Times endorsed Obama knowing absolutely nothing about Benghazi.

El Pasoans vote straight Democrat ticket punch 6. Unless a miracle happens, this is a guy who President Romney would have to work with.

This is really sad.

But I think it is the result of most of the people having come from the Mexican political system if you can call it that.

they are so used to their politicians being corrupt, they have just come to accept it. they are so used to the patron system where if you suck up to the big guy he’ll get free stuff for you.

they’ve never known anything else, and of course the school system teaches them that americans are all white evil racists and so you should grab anything you can get because that’s ‘socialism’.

Between the two things there’s not much hope.

This is one of the most corrupt medium size cities I have ever seen. From school district, to county commissioners, to even the police. Many of them are now on their way to prison, only to be replaced by the same types of crooks; who will lay low for a while, to only follow in the former corrupt footsteps of those who have gone before! Ah yes the wonderful Rat party!
