“I’ll be needin’ this for squirrels and such.”
(The outlaw Josie Wales)
If I walked out of the shack with the .22 rifle and a lawn chair, the GoodDog(tm) would sit quietly next to me as the other dogs hared off to annoy the game and coy-dogs.
She was short-haired and skinny and didn't get enough store-bought food.
As I dozed off, she would nudge me if a ground-rodent showed up across the field. We had lots of them around.
I'd shoot, she'd eat and come back to sit, settle, stay for the next one.
Tree rodents there aren't worth eating like around here, as far as I'm concerned, but she thought highly of them, and would walk beside me for hours if I was up walking among the trees.
