I don’t know about dogs and classical music, but some of my cats are absolutely hypnotized by Jimi Hendrix’s “Electric Ladyland.” My theory is that it’s the weird high frequency phasing effects that sucks them in. They’ll sit, without moving, exactly in the stereo “sweet spot” through all four sides.

We don’t have dogs, but we do have alpacas. They boys and girls are in separate barns (for obvious reasons). We often play music when we do chores. The boys like Irish ballads and Desi Arnaz; the girls like Johnny Cash and Mott the Hoople. Go figure.

This song is my secret weapon. I can sing it to a fractious critter and he/she calms right down:
