My mother voted for Obama because of a sense of white, liberal guilt and the onset of dementia.
She’s dead now, so Obama won’t be getting her vote this time around. (no dead people voting jokes, please)
Second post you said,
"Seriously, stop trying to reason/logic them out of a position they eschewed reason/logic to enter into."
then what is your secret how do you get them to listen?
I attempt to use emotions against them but it doesn't seem to have much of an effect. I explain to them taking from the poor to give to the rich isn't my idea of right and wrong.
Then I explain how stimulus takes from the poor to give to the rich and as soon as I use the word 'stimulus' they have this trigger in their head or something that gives them a positive feeling and anything else I said is ignored.
how do you talk with these cultists?
Good idea in theory but I know a number of people running a small business that loves big government. They complain about government but somehow they never connect the dots
It’s going around. My wife will be casting her first ever vote for a GOP candidate this year.
Allow them to feel comfortable to ask you a specific question, and just answer that one question, as succinctly as possible.
Then stop, talk about something else.
Don’t allow yourself to be baited into strawman arguments. There is a reason it’s always been considered rude to talk politics or religion if you already know you disagree with someone, or don’t know where they stand.
It’s a process.
If your answer is honest and correct, they are more liable to ask you other questions in the future.
