FULL TITLE: Federal government refers women to Planned Parenthood and links to site condemning pregnancy resource centers
Yep, you read that headline correctly. WomensHealth.gov is a Project of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Office on Womens Health. This federal site has a page with a pretty long title: Pregnancy > Before you get pregnant: Information for all women > If you are sexually active. And, near the bottom of the page, theres a section called Connect with other organizations. Most of the organizations are generally well-recognized medical groups like the American Academy of Family Physicians. But two non-profits make the list as well: March of Dimes and Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood is also listed as an organization to connect with on the Knowing if you are pregnant and Unplanned pregnancy pages. Of course, this should come as no surprise, since Kathleen Sebelius, Planned Parenthood supporter extreme, is the secretary of Health and Human Services.
Lest anyone question why I state that the federal government refers women to Planned Parenthood, lets cover the definition of refer. Refer is defined as to direct to a source for help or information. By telling women that Planned Parenthood is an organization to connect with, the federal government is clearly directing women to the abortion giant for help.
Interestingly, on the Unplanned pregnancy page, women are referred to a fact sheet on the consequences of unplanned pregnancy. The fact sheet does not give women the whole range of facts they need. But it begins by mentioning abortion:
Unplanned pregnancy, and in particular unwanted pregnancy, has a wide range of serious consequences. One of the most obvious is, of course, abortion. In 2001, there were approximately 1.3 million abortions in the United States, and although this number has been decreasing, the abortion rate in this country is still higher than in most other developed countries.
This is a good statement. However, instead of detailing for women exactly why abortion is one of the most obvious serious consequences, the fact sheet glosses over what makes abortion so serious. Instead of discussing the 130-260,000 new women who suffer serious mental health problems each year because of abortion, instead of discussing how a womans risk for bipolar disorder, neurotic depression, and schizophrenia significantly increases after an abortion, and instead of discussing the risk of suicide and substance abuse after abortion (not to mention the millions of innocent human beings killed by abortion), the fact sheet tries to imply that giving birth to an unplanned child will result in one more dumb criminal. Seriously.
In addition to referring women to Planned Parenthood and giving incomplete information, the federal government does even more advertising for Planned Parenthood. On the Unplanned pregnancy page, the feds refer women to a link called Pregnancy Options. Guess who authored the info on this page. Yep, Planned Parenthood. When you follow the link, directly below the question Thinking about your pregnancy options? is a link that says Find a Health Center. At the bottom of the page is yet another link for women to Find your nearest Planned Parenthood.
How in the world does the federal government have any business referring women to Planned Parenthood to find out about their pregnancy options? Planned Parenthood turned my friend away when she wanted medical help to keep her baby. They told her the best they could do was give a referral, since they didnt help women who want to keep their babies. And when my friend called the referral number, the line was disconnected. Some help. In 2010, for every one adoption referral Planned Parenthood gave (they dont even conduct the adoptions themselves), they actually committed 134 abortions.
If thats not enough evidence of bias by the federal government (and Kathleen Sebelius in particular), heres the real kicker. Read this paragraph about crisis pregnancy centers, which you can find directly on the page linked to by the feds. Its apparently not enough to basically advertise for Planned Parenthood. They have to condemn crisis pregnancy centers and the pro-life counselors who work there while theyre at it:
Family planning clinics, like your local Planned Parenthood health center, have specially trained staff who can talk with you about all of your options. But beware of so-called crisis pregnancy centers. These are fake clinics run by people who are anti-abortion. They often dont give women all their options. They have a history of scaring women into not having abortions. Absolutely no one should pressure you or trick you into making a decision youre not comfortable with.
As you can see, the additional link Planned Parenthood provides to crisis pregnancy centers is PPs own article condemning the centers.
This, ladies and gentlemen, is your tax dollars hard at work, courtesy of Barack Obama and Kathleen Sebelius.
Your Gov’t has its own political agenda, its own political party, and it is working against you.
Pro-choice is not “pro-choice.” If they truly cared about “choice,” they would help women no matter what their choice is, including having the baby. But they don’t. The have only one option to sell you, and that is abortion. And they will market it to you as though it were a shiny Corvette. See how free and easy your life will be!
