Dear Yahoo Mail: Goodbye.

I've had it with Yahoo Mail. Oh, it's fine technically, it's the politics. Apparantly the CEO of Yahoo is an Obama Bundler, which would be fine (not really), but he lets his politics control the news stories printed. Yahoo News has become the MSNBC of the internet.

So, GOODBYE, Yahoo. It's obvious we must part company. Your mail service is free but you make money on my participation (ad revenue), and this I cannot abide.

Anyone have any ideas for good, stable free email services that AREN'T liberal?

I use Yahoo email and I never go to or see their home page to get to my email account. When you are on your inbox page just bookmark it and use that link to get to your email inbox.

I got Yahoo mail about 10 years ago and used it as a throw-away account for the places that required an email address, but which I didn’t need to track. As far as I know it’s still open but I haven’t been there in a few years. Gmail for now but considering Rush’s recommendation of the Reagan email...

I used to pay a small amount each year for the Yahoo “premium” mail, but they made unlimited mail free years ago. What I do pay for is email with my domain name (business email), and it comes with a “page,” though nothing anyone would consider a website page.

I went to reagan.com and got my email address. I had 2 google accounts and am keeping one for donations, political stuff, etc. The other is entirely personal and some business that do NOT send ads or share your info. This has been a nice change. It always bothered me that before opening emails you could already tell the content of the email by the ads google posted above the email. Snooping big time! I know I can send any comment I want and it not be monitored.

It’s as if Yahoo, in some last ditch effort to save themselves from destruction, have turned hard left. If you look at any of the news articles, there is about a 90% left wing bias.

I need to find something to replace them with. I mostly use Yahoo for their finance information. They really excel in that area, and have typically had the most organized information, and best charting. I also use Yahoo for a personal email account, and as a source for keeping up with the day’s headlines.

Replacement suggestions appreciated.

I use Yahoo mail and like the Yahoo finance page, yet their articles are beyond biased in headline and content. The fun part has been watching the comments. It's like watching an FR thread with an occasional lib in it. Scroll down and check the comments and you'll see that 75% of the thousands of comments make fun of the bias and make fun of Bambi and his media cohorts. I would suggest a somewhat roundabout process for getting your new email, that offers a lot better security.

Typically, it is hard to get a good email unless you provide them personal information, as well as another email address. This can be used to “track you back”.

So the first step is getting a small, expendable email, hopefully from an international free email provider. Then use fake information across the board to create your quality email account in a pretty safe manner.

1) Free international emails.

If these require an email address themselves, create a “disposable”, 10-minute email:

2) Now that you have an international email, you can choose a quality account. I like Lycos.com as a quality account, as it is a major player, but based in India.

But even then, you will need fake personal information to subscribe. For that I would use the Fake Name (and personal information) Generator:

3) For passwords, *always* use a password generator, and these days, it is a very good idea to use at least 15 characters, so you should keep a written password list. PCTools has a high quality generator up to 64 characters.

4) Keep garbage out of your email by using either 10 minute mail or

5) For pure entertainment, you might create a dummy email address to track those who misuse your information. The way to do this is to use different identities on different sites, fill in forms, etc., being careful to annotate what fake identity you used where. When the spam rolls in to your dummy email address, addressed to a particular fake name, you get to see sold your “personal” information, and to who.

This is also fun to do with magazine subscriptions, store discount cards, and other things like that.

All the big free email providers are ultra-libs. But why not
use their services for free in such a way they can’t make money off of you via ads? Namely, use an email client like Thunderbird, Outlook Express, Outlook, etc. with POP3 or IMAP access to the email server. No ads, faster, easier, more powerful, more control, and more secure than web-based email.

I’d recommend using Thunderbird, IMAP, and gmail.
