Gallup reported Wednesday a seasonally unadjusted unemployment rate of 7.3 percent in mid-October, far below the Bureau of Labor Statistics controversial September rate of 7.9 percent, which is seasonally adjusted.
The decline in unemployment but uptick in the number of Americans working part time but looking for full-time work is likely the result of seasonal hiring, which picks up in the fall for Halloween and continues through the end of the holiday season, writes Gallup.
The seasonally adjusted unemployment rate was 7.7 for the month, according to Gallup, still lower than the BLS number. Gallups results were based on its daily tracking surveys of more than 30,000 people from Sept. 16-Oct. 15.

Gallup says Romney up Unemployment down..what to think..... what to think
Gallup all over the place.
Gallup polls are suspect, especially since Holder threatened to sue them.
BULLSHIT.
Axelrod has put the pressure on these fools, and the reason part-time employment is up (and "un-employment" is down), is because FULL-TIME jobs are harder to find than ever in the past 40 years.
The contorted calculations of Un-Employment is based on NEW CLAIMS, and existing CLAIMS, and because after 99 weeks out of work, you drop off of the list of "Un-employed", and if you take a part time job you drop off the list of "Un-Employed", the numbers are made to make The Messiah look better.
Why do Food Stamps and Welfare rise when un-Employment is dropping?
Common Sense tells us not to trust ANY numbers that the State-Run-Media, or State-Controlled-Polls are spewing.
If another 20M people give up and drop out of the work force, unemployment will really go down.
Of course, she's making less than what she was making on unemployment, and making much less than half of what she used to when she got laid off.
But hey, things are sure looking better!
Just shoot me now.
I don’t know why anyone is surprised at these numbers. There were stories in the paper last week about how a major restaurant chain was experimenting with moving their employees from full time to part time status under 25 hours per week. If you had 2 employees working 35 hours per week each that were considered full time, and you cut their hours back to under 25 per week, then what happens? The work is still there. So management has to hire a third person. Now you have 3 people working under 25 hours per week each, which helps to bring the unemployment number down, but should be really hurts the 2 people who were previously employed full time. I suspect that this is happening all over the country right now. We won’t know the truth about these numbers for a number of months, I’m sure. But that doesn’t mean they are being fudged. I truly believe that this is the new economy. Or should I say the new economy under Obamacare.
Gallup and their polls are a pile of crap.
U3 drops a full point in 30 days!
Next thing you know, we’ll hear that the oceans have receded a full foot in the last two weeks.
Now that I think about it, we will likely get an AP story on the morning of Nov. 6th, that the ocean levels have dropped 6’ in the last 12 hours, proving that Obama’s policies are working.
So does this mean were are gaining on Greece?
Americans Turn to the Open Road, Looking for Jobs in Their RV's
This is from a couple of years ago but every year the economy roars . . . .
LOL! 7.3. That’s some funny stuff. I think somebody been hittin’ da happy smoke.
Let’s say you have 1,000 hours of work required per week. That could take 25 employees at 40 hours per week.
But, if you’re faced with catastrophic increases in health care costs for 25 workers who exceed 30 hours per week, why not hire some more employees, say, 15 more. Then, you’d have 40 employees with each working 25 hours per week. That still covers the 1,000 hours of work required per week.
Obama calls it a gain in employment but it’s just a wash and a way around his craziness.
