I just want to warn people that while getting adequate zinc is desirable, please be careful with supplements!

The maximum safe dose is not very high—40 mg if you are over 19, less for younger people—and between supplements and the normal amount of zinc in the diet, it is very easy to get too much zinc.

Excess zinc interferes with some medications. Excess zinc also leads to dose-dependent symptoms of toxicity. This toxicity, even if you aren’t aware of it, can have long-term consequences. It can cause urinary tract problems.

Humans evolved with a diet containing specific ranges of micronutrients. The goal of proper nutrition is to achieve an intake within those ranges. Too much is just as bad as too little.

The tables in this NIH article (http://ods.od.nih.gov/factsheets/Zinc-HealthProfessional/) tell 1) RDA of zinc, 2) some foods containing zinc, and 3) the maximum safe daily intake of zinc.

“Going to be a little hard to swallow?”

There is a little known trick to make it easier to swallow...wash it down with battery acid...works well for nails too...

Check the levels on nascent as I recall they’re very low (in mcgs). It also needs a ratio of iodine to iodide and may not have that.

Topical mag only provides 18mg/per spritz. It’s very good and I have it but it is not the most absorbant or will you get sufficient dosing. Mag binds to 13 different things, some of which absorb poorly and others absorb much better. Glycinate and malate being the best, generally.

Chewables

losenges

Nextag search page: here

I haven't used any of these products, nor am I involved in any of these companies, so I can't endorse them, but you may see something familiar there.

Zycam. Great source of zinc if dissolved in the mouth. Oral tissues absorb drugs such as Vitamin B-12 that may be damaged by the hydrochloric acid in the stomach.

That’s as bad as my dad telling me to eat a teaspoon of salt when I was little.

The latter isn't likely.

Pernicious anemia (PA) (also known as Biermer’s disease[1] and Addisonian anemia[2]) is a macrocytic anemia due to vitamin B12 (cobalamin) deficiency, which, in turn, is the result of deficiency of intrinsic factor, a protein that binds avidly to dietary vitamin B12 and promotes its transport to the terminal ileum for absorption[3]. The deficiency of intrinsic factor is a consequence of the presence of atrophic body gastritis (ABG), which results in the destruction of the oxyntic mucosa, and thus, the loss of parietal cells, which normally produce chlorhydric acid as well as intrinsic factor[4].

HCl is also called muriatic acid.
