Two videos, obtained by KENS 5 on Wednesday through an open records request, show the inside of the bus up until it collides with another car and begins to crash through a barrier in the northbound lanes near downtown -- about a half mile north of the Alamodome.

SAISD spokeswoman Leslie Price explained that the student in the video has been covered by a black box to comply with federal privacy laws. She also explained that the video cuts out before the bus hits the access road below.

"Note that the video shows the bus being hit by the car, but shortly after that occurs, the footage ends. This is due to the significant impact to the bus when it hit the ground -- power was cut and the digital video footage still in the buffer was lost," she said in an e-mail.

Both surveillance clips have been combined in the video above. In the first clip, the car involved in the crash can be seen hitting the school bus. The second clip shows the school bus driver reacting behind the wheel.

I hate the section of expressway.

You’re high, the guardrail is low, and for some reason or another people seem to drive even more stupid than normal through that section of road.

The school bus driver was a seven year old student?

You’re right. Most Texas freeways are pretty well designed, but I-37 and the US 281 swing around Brackenridge park are flat-out dangerous.

Lucky no one was killed.
