I guess this is a good thing. What I hate is Akin’s bullsh-t claim that he’s an ‘outsider’ and this is just about the establishment fighting a tea party type guy.

Nothing could be further from the truth. Akin is an elected congressman, part of the DC culture and has hired a consummate DC hack who’s foolish advice sunk Newt in Florida. Two good or maybe even great tea party types were defeated by all the libs voting for Akin because he’s not a very bright bulb.

But he needs to beat McCaskill nontheless.

Akin is an outsider. He is too conservative for the GOP, e.g., his 97.24 lifetime ACU rating and his votes against TARP, No-child left behind, the Prescription Drug Program, McCain-Feingold, and other GOPe pushed bills. Within 24 hours after making his verbal gaffe (including an apology), the GOP disowned him. The RNC announced it was cutting off all funding to him, disinviting him from the convention, and asking him to withdraw. Romney and Ryan joined in the orchestrated outrage within the GOP pressuring Akin to withdraw including conservative talk radio, George "Macacca" Allen, and many MO leading Reps. Just last week Priebus announced that not a dime would go to Akin, who is on the same ticket with Romney and Ryan.

The GOP was very unhappy that Akin won the tough, bruising MO primary. Akin's verbal gaffe was a pretext to force him out. It didn't work and now the GOP is faced with the consequences. They could have handled it much better, but chose to humiliate publicly a fellow colleauge who served 24 years in elective office at the state and federal level. They don't call the GOP the Stupid Party for nothing.
