After enduring a major public-relations tsunami this summer, Chick-fil-A, the Atlanta-based sandwich shop that’s closed on Sundays, says it will end its decade-long corporate support of culture-warrior groups that oppose gay marriage.
"Going forward, our intent is to leave the policy debate over same-sex marriage to the government and political arena,” the company said in a statement Wednesday. Its charitable arm, WinShape Foundations, gave $2 million to gay-marriage opponents such as Focus on the Family in 2010 alone, according to ABC News.
The news emerged from Chicago, from the office of city Alderman Joe Moreno, who helped drive the controversy by vowing to block Chick-fil-A’s application for a building permit in Chicago’s hip Northwest Side ward over statements by CEO Dan Cathy this summer. Mr. Cathy told the Baptist Press in July that he was “guilty as charged” for supporting “the biblical definition of the family unit.”

I always take CSM with a grain of salt. I’d like to see this from a credible source.
Not to mention all the customers they got in July and August that supported his original stance.
The story may be false. The statement that starts with “Going forward” was issued on July 27.

Just as Paris isn't France and New York City isn't New York State, Berkeley and West Hollywood are not California. On August 1, the line of customers wanting to show support for our local Chick Fil-A in La Habra stretched around the block, and the cars trying to get in caused a traffic jam. Dan Cathy is crazy if he's planning to cave.
The story is a plant, a disinformation tactic. Hit pieces like this have been popping up all over the place lately. Somebody is scared, and they are cranking up the propaganda warfare machine. Don’t believe everything you see or read.
Agreed. After all the positive response and support Chick-fil-A had recently (and will continue to have), this doesn’t add up.
This is a phony story from these jackasses to save face. Moreno knows he can’t really stop the permitting so he has to invent this.
You are right and yahoo is carrying the water. I cannot go to read my mail without seeing some stupid story about how badly Romney is doing, etc. I even saw this story as a headline on Yahoo.
Then there’s one way to prove it, Chick Fil A should up their donations to Family Research Council and National Organization for Marriage and tell Moreno where to go!!
