A South Carolina man cant understand why the registered sex offender who victimized his 10-year-old daughter gets to live next door, separated only by a chain link fence.
Chris Smith, of Conway, told the Sun News of Myrtle Beach that having Kerry Dane Marlowe for a neighbor is hell on his family. He said he would gladly move, but doubts he can sell a house next to a sex offender.
When its all stripped away, Smith told the paper. I still have a convicted, registered sex offender living next door.
Marlowe was convicted of criminal solicitation of a minor and forced to register after having a creepy conversation with the little girl through the fence that separates their yards, according to the paper. Smith said his daughter was playing with Marlowes cat when Marlowe asked her what size bra she wore and if he could rub lotion on her. He then exposed himself to her and leaned over the fence to kiss her, Smith said.

- Chris Smith, father of sex offender's victim.
When the girl told her father what had happened, Smith called the Horry County police, who arrested Marlowe, the Sun News reported. At a probation hearing before his sentencing, a judge ordered Marlowe to wear an ankle bracelet and stay at least a mile away from the neighborhood, according to the paper. But when he pleaded guilty to criminal solicitation of a minor and was sentenced to four years probation and to stay at least 30 feet from Smiths daughter.

the judges are sick..
And, if he did not do so within a reasonable time, he would get a visit some morning about 3 a.m. from a masked committee who would use one of these tools on him.
This wouldn’t happen if fathers were allowed to kill the molesters of their daughters...much safer and cheaper, too.
Daddy needs to be quiet. Marlowe needs to have a “fatal accident.” Problem solved.
Sex offender: Kerry Dane Marlowe, 62, was convicted of criminal solicitation of a minor
That should be “...only a backyard fence, a Smith and Wesson ‘45, and a Winchester 12 gauge separate....”
Ah, much better.
I hope Mr. Smith can exercise great care the next time he cleans his rifle near the upstairs window so no accidental discharge injures his neighbor. That would be very unfortunate. Really.
Well...a Remington 1100 and a fence.....
This is sick. That perv needs to move far far away. For his own health.
If the father tolerates this sicko living next door, then he is as stupid as they come
ping!
Dad needs to move, whether our stupid laws are protecting them or not, in order to protect his daughter. He needs to move YESTERDAY. His daughter needs to know that her father will do whatever is necessary to protect her.
I had something very similar happen to me. My next-door neighbor was convicted and put on the sex-offender list. For nearly two years as I tried to sell my home it steadily decreased in value.
It wasn’t until he lost his home due to foreclosure and moved far away that I was able to get a buyer and at that it was as a short-sale. I figure I and the bank lost about $150K in value because of all of the buyers that were scared off in that time period.
And before someone asks, under state law it was something that has to be declared to a prospective buyer.
Sex offenders of ALL stripes should be locked up permanently.
Why’d you sell after he was gone?
My wife and I had built a home in Kentucky and she was living there as I was still living in the original house trying to sell it.
Once I did I came here, to be with my family once again.
If he can sell his house, sure.
Unfortunately, he may find it difficult to sell since he is living next door to a child molester.
I'd agree except now everyone who commits any convictable offense involving anything to do with genitalia is now considered a 'sex offender'.
Got a indecent exposure as a 17 year old because you mooned your school president? Sex offender.
Making out in the back seat of the car with your sweety in high school, things got a little steamy, and you got busted for it? Sex offender.
Staggering back from the football game after drinking too much, and cop a pee in some bushes off the side of the road? Sex offender.

I’d live in my car before I let my daughter live next to that.
I’d move in with Grandma. Whatever.
I’m not saying it’s “fair” to the man. I am saying it is what he must do. Protecting his daughter should be paramount, here. Not just if it’s easy enough to do.
