Giving a buddy a ride to work today. You see, back in early July he had actually managed to save up enough $ to buy a new car - his first new car ever. Traded in an 11 year old sedan that was on its last legs...
I'm giving him a ride to work today not because there is anything wrong with the car. This is not a rant against any particular manufacturer, union, dealership, etc. I'm giving him a ride because he can no-longer legally drive it, the temporary tags have expired and his new tags haven't come yet.
If it takes them more than 60 days to issue tags, how long to coordinate a real medical procedure involving hospitals, drug companies, physical therapy, etc.? There's your real death panels right there - death by delay.
that may not be true, in California your registration is Deemed Payed and Valid as soon as you put your payment in the US MAIL.
The longer it takes an agency to do something, the more it appears there's a need for increased staffing and funding. Which, in turn, makes the agency more powerful and increases the likelihood of management advancing to a higher pay grade (since they supervise more people).
Essentially, the government functions on the exact opposite goals of private industry.
Thanks, I did not know that. But we’re not in CA. This guy is a very by-the-book kind of guy, so he’s not going to just drive it. He’d probably have a heart attack if he got a ticket. ;-) I’m not busting his chops about it, happy to help out...
a one sentence synopsis of ObamaCare - make it go viral
Dr. Barbara Geller, running for Illinois state senate
He should go to the DMV and get another new temp tag. That is LEGAL and will save him a heart attack... :)
Does he really need that hassle? The DMV folks can really spoil your day. I'd suggest visiting the dealer and getting another tag from them. Apply a little pressure while he's there. Most dealers work closely with the DMV.
Democrats like “deeming” a lot of things, don’t they.
Well I am off to the Post Office again to try to get my passport. The old one had expired. The first time they wouldn't accept my birth certificate. I had 2 copies , official seal, all the required names, every requirement they asked for but the “lady” said I needed a new copy. Everyone that has gotten a driver's license or had to go register a car knows what a hassle dealing with government can be. Do you really want to have to do all this bull with your health care too?
If the car is purchased through a dealership, and the issue is from either them or the tag office, they can reissue another 30 day temp tag.
In Nebraska, we can renew our tags by mail, and receive the new stickers back 3-4 days after mailing in the request.
You touched on the real culprit. It’s not the DMV, but (probably) the dealership.
Far too many dealerships collect the money, but fail to send it over with the paperwork in a timely manner.
I would hound the dealership on a daily basis until the problem is resolved.
This happened to a buddy of mine earlier this year on a leased car, and it was indeed the dealership, specifically the manager of the salesman who sold the car lease to my buddy, who never bothered to fill out and send the paperwork to the DMV.
Buddy hounded them for a day until they paid for the overnight return receipt delivery of the temp tags to his front door.
Oh, and then the freaking dealership had another 29 days to get the paperwork straight and didn’t, and he had to do the same thing again 30 days later.
75+ days on temp tags cause of this.
