Hackers have allegedly stolen millions of Apple UDIDs from an FBI laptop, raising some potentially uncomfortable questions about privacy.

It could turn out to be a very bad week for Apple and the FBI. On Sept. 4, news began to circulate around the Web that hackers associated with AntiSec had stolen more than 12 million Apple Unique Device Identifiers (UDIDs) for iOS devices from an FBI agent’s laptop. What can be done with that number? Not disputing you, I just don’t understand how someone could hurt me by having that number, especially if there is no way to link the number with me.

“Why did the FBI HAVE 12 Million Apple UDID’s in the first place?”

“Are Mac’s inherently subversive, or have they profiled Mac owners?”

Most of what i have read seems to indicate that because of UDIDs Mac Devices are much easier to track and associate with users. So probably not more subversive just easier to track.

And why should the FBI be empowered to “track” anybody’s anything, with regard to Mac UDID’s?
