Last thing anyone should ever feel sorry for would be Germans and Japanese, who wholeheartedly supported their regimes even if they didn’t know all the specifics. And if you didn't wholeheartedly support the regime, the Gestapo in Germany or the Tokubetsu Kōtō Keisatsu in Japan would be knocking on your door at midnight.
