He was a minor. The US accepts dual nationality. Obama never lost his US citizenship.

"Parents cannot renounce U.S. citizenship on behalf of their minor children. Before an oath of renunciation will be administered under Section 349(a)(5) of the INA, a person under the age of eighteen must convince a U.S. diplomatic or consular officer that he/she fully understands the nature and consequences of the oath of renunciation, is not subject to duress or undue influence, and is voluntarily seeking to renounce his/her U.S. citizenship."

Obama returned to the US at age 10.

THE US ONLY ACCEPTS DUAL NATIONALITY IN CERTAIN CIRCUMSTANCES.

Kabar knows this.

There ARE OTHER WAYS TO LOSE YOUR US NATIONALITY BESIDES FORMALLY RENOUNCING IT.

Kabar knows this, too, because I explained it to him in detail in this thread:

HOW OBAMA MAY HAVE LOST HIS US CITIZENSHIP

If Obama did something ON HIS OWN APPLICATION AS A YOUNG ADULT, perhaps during or just prior to his college years, such as

(a)obtain an Indonesian passport,

(b)renew an Indonesian passport or

(c)make a formal declaration to the government of Indonesia that he desired to continue to be an Indonesian citizen,

in circumstances where Indonesia required that such a person in effect forswear United States nationality or any other nationality because Indonesia refused to confer such documents or status on someone who was a citizen of the United States or any other country, then Obama may have LOST HIS US CITIZENSHIP under our laws as in effect at the time.

The problem for Obama is that Indonesia did NOT permit dual nationality. If you wanted to be Indonesian, you were not allowed to maintain any other citizenship.

If he did so purport to forswear United States nationality, or if what he did would be considered tantamount to obtaining naturalization upon his own application within the meaning of U.S. law, then he may well have lost his United States citizenship by virtue of such action, according to the statutory provisions of our law in effect during that time period.
