YouGov’s methodology is to poll invited participants and then weight the results by demographics.
Thay have been fairly accurate in some polling (UK elections, X-Factor winners). They acquired a US polling Co in 2007 and I assume that is how they conduct polling here.
However, what people say they think, and how that translates into actions are two different things. For instance someone being polled, even anonymously, might want to give the perceived “correct” answer- “oh yes I have a lower opinion of CFA if they hate gay people” yet that same person might eat there tomorrow, because hey, the food is good and so are the prices.
Without knowing what questions were asked, it’s impossible to know what this poll really means, if anything.
And, does it matter at all? if it does not affect buying decisions, it just doesn’t matter.

From YouGov FAQ:

What kind of rewards are offered for participating in surveys?

When you take surveys you accumulate points which can later be redeemed for rewards. Rewards range from tote bags and t-shirts to movie tickets and dining certificates all the way up to $100 cash. See our Rewards page for a complete list.

Where can I see my points?

You must be logged in to see your points. If you are logged in they will be visible at the top right of the home page. You can also see your complete account summary from your activity page. To navigate to your account page select Panel Members then Activity from the top menu.

They sound like a magnet for those young single college students or dropout losers that sell their blood or volunteer for medical experiments for a price.

Even if it did affect some buying decisions, likely the whole thing will die down and people who like their food will drift back. In the mean time, many new customers who just started going there because of all of this, will become permanent new customers. In the end they will have gained new loyal customers, and most of the ones that may have left for awhile will be back.

Also, if the Midwest is a good territory for them, there are many, many areas that do not have them. In Wisconsin, for instance, there is only one in the entire state. I hope they open one in my area.

In any event they know that there are more important things in life than how much money you make. If they remain faithful in the midst of adversity, The LORD will bless them.
