I think it's accurate to say, if your past were different, you probably would never have crossed paths with this good fellow in the first place, Laz.

Not this particular fellow, no. Maybe it would be a coworker who was secretly using drugs.

And then I wouldn't have known what to do.

I neither regret my past, nor wish to shut the door on it. It proves too useful.
