Here’s my model: Abolish it. It is no longer necessary and actually does more harm than good. Stuff like http://www.khanacademy.org are all you need.

Fred sums it up nicely:

Australia outback:

School of the Air

correspondence schools catering for the primary and early secondary education of children in remote and outback Australia. In these areas, the school-age population is too small for a conventional school to be viable.

The first School of the Air lessons were officially broadcast from the Royal Flying Doctor Service in Adelaide on 8 June 1951.

As long as education is provided by government, there can never be improvement.

The sole purpose of Public Education is to indoctrinate people to be obedient to the State.

All across our Republic public education is "educating" people so that they do not have critical thinking skills; who look to the State as a positive; and to have a visceral hatred of Capitalism and hard work.

Everything government touches, it corrupts or destroys.

Let kids graduate as early as they can pass the test, and use the remaining money allocated for them in K-12 for college funds.

Here’s my modest proposal for education reform.

We have been discussing ways to fast track kids through high school to avoid the liberal agenda and other idiocies:
