Her comments on Facebook were directed at the customers who stiffed her.

But I NEVER tip bad service or rude behavior, and I write in a big fat ZERO and a note explaining why.

On the very rare occasions I have run into service that poor, I have tipped exactly $0.02.

THE Cardinal rule of dining out: NEVER f*** with people who handle your food!

You can post something on your wall directed at anyone without them knowing unless they are your friend. Only friends can read your wall if your privacy settings are like most.

My friend has called Obama an a**hole, but Obama can’t read that. However I can, and could rat him out.

Worst Tippers 1) A certain race of people who cannot be named for risk of being called 'racist' 2) Teachers

Old people..they still think $1.00 is something.

Good tippers..guys out on a date and don't want to appear cheap to their date.

Did you forget the sarc tag, just askin?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sarc tag?
Are you paid $60 an hour to do menial labor? It would not suprise me that even with a $138 bill, this waitress only spent 5 minutes from beginning to end on this table. A dollar a minute seems pretty fair to me.
This is why I hate eating out. I don’t like other people’s nasty germy hands on my food and I certainly don’t like attitude from waitstaff.
Flame away but I also don’t like the idea of waitstaff expecting a tip and who get ticked if they aren’t tipped 15 to 20 percent. Sorry, but their employers should pay them what they’re worth. That’s not my job. My job is to be the customer and their job is to bring me clean food in a timely manner. Two minutes at my table does not justify $10. Heck, the food service person at the drive thru services customers in cars better. They take your order, give you your food and handles the bill whereas many times it’s the cashier person at the exit desk who handles the bill at restaurant and not the waitstaff who’s usually off hiding so they don’t have to be bothered with you. I don’t tip the bank teller. I don’t tip the store cashier though I do make it a point to tell the manager if a store employee was extra helpful. So, what makes waitstaff so deserving?
It seems like a lifetime ago that I was in that line of work too.
I think what most people fail to realize is that in a lot of places, if you stiff your waiter/waitress, then they are actually having to pay to wait on you. I worked in a number of places where the amount that the wait staff had to "tip out" (i.e, share with busboy, cocktail waitress, bartender) was based on the sales rung up (bar or food). These places usually don't care how much you made. If you are supposed to tip out 2% of your food sales to the bus staff, and the server got stiffed on $100 tab, it just cost them $2 to wait on the table. This is why I NEVER totally stiff the server. I may not leave a lot, but I always leave something. Then I make a point of letting the manager know why I will not be returning to his establishment.
On the flip side, I also let the manager know when I have received excellent service.
BTW, yes, I did do my stint as a waitress and don’t know of anyone who complained about my work ethic. And I still don’t believe waitstaff are so special.
I doubt you used the word “you” in your post directed AT Obama.
She was venting to these people as if they would be able to personally read her comments directed at “you”.
So again, why did she add them as friends? They don’t sound too friendly.
Do you not dine out often? I’ve never been a waiter, but know that they do spend a fair amount of time at each table (especially when the tab runs to $138).
Let’s say the average per person is $20, that’s still 7 people. That’s 7 orders, drinks/appetizers/entree/dessert; checking glasses to see they’re full or need to be refilled. They have to greet the guests, recite the day’s specials, make dessert recommendations, etc. I’m sure it adds up to more than 5 minutes.
Waiters/waitresses are paid less than minimum wage, IIRC around $3/hour. So you’d allow them $8/hour? This girl was foolish to post at Facebook as she did, but there are customers out there, among whom I hope you are not included, who do deserve to be told how to treat those who do “menial labor.’
It's apparent from that statement that you've NEVER been a server! With a bill that high, it took more than 5 minutes just to get their order!
"Old people..."
Good point. My father in-law is a classic example. I too usually sneak in extra money when leaving the table with him. The guy is an accountant and he still has to use hand written math to figure out a tip. I figured it out in my head first when taking algebra long ago.
Having been a waitress, I can empathize with the girl’s rant, but she used poor judgement on where she put it. The restaurant where I worked paid less than minimum and we were allowed to keep our tips. It was the hardest job I ever held. The first month I cried every night when I finally laid down to sleep. The pain in every bone in my body was agonizing. We not only waited tables, we were told, “If you can lean, you can clean.” And we had to do “prep” work. Than meant slicing onions, cheese, tomatoes; making salads, tea, etc. If things got slow, we cleaned every crook and cranny, right down to the lattice work on the walls and all the antiques. All that plus being under constant high-stress trying to keep up with orders and demands of customers. No indeed. It is not a cushy job.
Again, I doubt she did. She was probably just ranting on her home page to anyone. You and I just disagree.
I heard that. I have read some awful stories about how some restaurant employees amuse themselves with the food. I seem to recall that Jesse Jackson boasted about spitting in food when he worked in a restaurant in his youth. I don’t trust restaurants at all. I think many employees don’t even care if they get caught, they’ll just move on to another place. They do this stuff on camera even.
It’s safer to just make it myself at home.
A lot of folks on FB do the undirected rant to the air with “you” as the pronoun, don’t know why but it’s become pretty standard.
