The problem is that most of the theories put forth in astrophysics are difficult if not impossible to test.A "theory" isn't technically a theory unless it is capable of being disproven. Super String "theory" doesn't actually qualify as a theory because there is no test that can falsify it. There must be 'something' that if it is shown to be the case disproves it.
