Assuming, just for a moment, the intrepic explorers do find an extraterrestrial craft on the sea floor, does anyone believe that would be reported?
They will find whatever is palatable to those who decide what each one of us should know.
It will be either a sunken ship, a meteor crater or a natural geological formation.
Nothing more.
Move along, sheeple, nothing to see....oh, and pay your friggin’ taxes.
Swamp gas.
While I am sure that the vast majority of UFO stories are either misidentifications or just complete BS, I will never buy that it’s all pure BS. When you have several hundred year old paintings showing some very UFO like craft, and consider they didn’t have Art Bell on the radio back then...well, it makes one wonder.
And if in fact there is ‘something’ out there/now right here,b consider just how much secret info gets leaked with Wikileaks ect.
Plus, Krugman is advocating an alien takeover...
I'm sure the whole expedition would be under immediate lock-down and media black out by the Swedish government, if they found a real alien spacecraft. After a few days, some story would be concocted about the expedition uncovering some classified military crash that "unfortunately must remain classified."
Maybe, maybe not... We should first ascertain if there is *serious* money to be made from the discovery. If so, then it's quite likely someone (person, corp and/or govt) would exploit the find whether extraterrestrial or not.
Personally, I firmly believe that if "they" are actually out there (which I doubt), then they are so far away as to be eternally undetectable and our paths will never cross. The Fermi Paradox (wikipedia) pretty much leads me to the conclusion that "they" don't actually exist, which I attribute to an intentional, divine design.
