The crew of the Steve Irwin decide to take on a Russian fishing vessel, the Mitrofan Moskelenko. Unfortunately this is the last episode of Whale Wars, where the producers had to rely on coverage from Russia Today. While the Steve Irwin was approaching the Mitrofan Moskelenko, it appeared that the Irwin suffered a severe engine room fire. The Moskelenko sent helicopters to rescue survivors, but without success, since the Irwin went down with all hands. The last radio communication with the Irwin consisted of the sounds of unintelligible screams and explosions.
