I’d say that compared to being a Ukranian peasant in 1933, a Polish Jew in 1940, or a Carthaginian in 146 BC things are still pretty spiffy.

Pretty much take any group from any time in history, and our worst complaints seem pretty spiffy compared to what they dealt with. I am under then belief that people are getting weaker and weaker.

Things on this earth are grim. They have always been grim.

But no Black Plague, no marauding armies raping children. So not too terrible here and now.
