I remember breaking the news in the kitchen to my mother that Rock Hudson was a pole-vaulter. I had seen his photo earlier that day, gaunt & spots on him in a supermarket mag rack, and didn’t want her taken by surprise. I knew she thought he was pretty cool.

She almost threw a Pyrex dish at me. Maybe I should have broken the news about Jim Nabors/`Gomer Pyle’ being his `boy-toy’ for later.

Yeah, I don't know if Nabors was gay. I've known several guys that grew up like that in the South who were raised by their grandmas or around southern people[women] like that and it influenced their mannerism's. He could of been, but he never made it a issue, as far as I know.
