Take notice kids! You think your parents are tough? Hoosier parents have plenty of room on top of the car for you. and you, and little wise guy over there too!

They actually begin to calm down and obey when I get up to 10 mph. Usually, they are still giggling and looking around until then.

I bump it up to over 100mph just to make sure the lesson sticks...:)

I just took a 6 hour road trip with my daughter, her husband, and my two granddaughters, who fought the entire trip. I was sitting in the back seat of a Kia Rio with the kids, and then I got carsick. The roof of the car didn’t sound like such a bad idea to me at the time.

I went from riding on the hay cart, to the towbar on the tractor, to the back of innumerable pickups, and eventually the tailboard on a fire engine (none of which is done much any more).

As kids, being strapped to the roof would have been a hoot!

I don’t know how my parents could handle it. Twice a year they put us in the back seat of the Buick and drove from home (coast of NC) to Mom’s parents near Nashville, TN. My sister would always get sick in the mountains, and Dad never wanted to stop unless the car needed gas.

One good thing that came out of that is that I have no problem navigating when going on a trip. And I’m one of the few who can actually correctly fold a map. Used to collect the free road maps when I was a kid.
