In the book of Job, written about 4,000 years ago, God describes darkness not merely as the lack of light but as a physical entity, with specific location(s) in space:

"And darkness, where is its place,
That you may take it to its territory
And that you may discern the paths to its home?"
Job 38:19-20 NASB

This predates science's discovery of dark energy by four millennia, and it is not the only such successful prediction in Job.

To: Hebrews 11:6

The Bible says the universe had a beginning. Scientific consensus essentially scoffed at this idea until Penzias and Wilson “heard” the echo of the Big Bang.

Though I still like what Einstein said in that, “Science without religion is lame, (and) religion without science is blind.”
