Those "big" hits should lead to rule changes.

Before the hand up "free catch" rule on fourth down, a fast player could run past and hit the receiver from behind just as another player hit the receiver head on -- resulting in almost tearing the receiver apart.

Years ago, I saw that play happen; the fast player ran past and hit the receiver low and the other player hit the receiver high.

The ball was fumbled, the victim was carried off on a stretcher, abd the fair catch rule was soon adopted.

That's why we used to call punt coverage "Suicide Squad". Any player who had the guts to field a punt was essentially committing suicide.

Yeah, and Bill Walsh’s 49-ers Super Bowel trophies will be taken back for the same reason. Just like all the baseball stats were readjusted after Barry Bond’s steroid use came to light.

Now I know why the Redskins players under Williams never made proper tackles.

lifetime ban on Williams....great news. This has no place in the NFL. Shocked at the Payton suspension for a full year. I am not a Saint’s fan, but I am a Payton and Brees fan. This is huge. The NFL is not kidding around on this issue.

I’m surprised there haven’t been criminal or at least civil charges, yet.

Apparently it was the covering-up that got Peyton, even more than the bounties.

Just waiting for the race card to be played here, i.e., why was New Orleans singled out, when everybody else does it, yadda yadda yadda....

According to local sports news, the Saints and Payton lied to the NFL and tried to cover it up.
That's why the heavy ax fell.
Some player suspensions next.
Injured players lawsuits coming up.
Big time mess the Saints brought on themselves.

Nuff said.

Having been born and raised in Western PA, I'll always be a Steeler's fan first, but having lived in LA for over a decade now, I can't help but have an affinity for the Saints as well, but they screwed up here.

I would say that if Drew Brees had been torn up in a game, and it came out that the other team's defense had a bounty on him, NO fans would be calling for blood.

Yup, Big, big time.
News just reported (Channel 8, FOX, New Orleans) that 25-27 New Orleans players and ex-players may be subject to NFL action.
Ain't fixing to be over with for some time.
