My thought is: Hate on Romney, but having Gingrich as VP, Newt could take all of the hits so to speak. Like Nixon/Agnew. Have a guy at the top while your second in command sticks it to the media. And doesn't back down. Would this be OK with FReepers? Looks like a fait accompli as far as Romney. Maybe we can get a nice VP who will stick it.

Academic.

It’s going to be a Romney/Santorum ticket.

You heard it here first. Please congratulate me come August.

No. Gingrich as Romney’s VP wouldn’t improve things any more than Gingrich as the kenyan’s VP. A socialist is a socialist no matter what his accessories look like.

No. The GOP needs to learn the base won’t accept a liberal as the nominee.

No. While I could vote for Newt, coupling him with Romney, especially as VP, leaves no control over Altbama.

There a person on this Earth who, by being VEEP, could make me choke down Romney as the nominee.

romney... gingrich... santorum...

none of them have the juice to bring out enough of the base to matter.
1. romney loses 10-20% of the base by being mormon
2. gingrinch loses 10-20% due to the wife swapping and being old
3. and santorum doesn’t energize people enough to get them out of their seat

the left knows all this and also knows they have a hard leftie that energizes the base so much that even during these times he polls at 40-45% (amazing what kool-aid can do). any polls the left releases stating some gop candidate has a shot is really trying to steer the nomination towards that candidate.

plan accordingly

If Newt stays in the race just to siphon enough votes to ensure that Romney wins, then the answer is No.

I could live with it, but I wouldn't vote for it. I got fooled into voting for McCain by his choice for VP. Won't get fooled again.

It's interesting that the constitution originally envisaged the winner in a presidential race being Pres, and the runner up becoming VP. The duo was not elected as a pair.

FLASHBACK:

The McCain/Palin ticket was up ++4 to 10 pts
in some polls, days prior to Election 2008.
So rather than helping the GOP, Romney and
TeamROMNEY and the RNME (Republican National Media Establishment)
decided …to attack Gov. Palin to throw Election2008.

Romney, and the Van der Sloot RNME RINOs for Obama in 2008

Late in October, The American Spectator's The Prowler revealed:
"Former Mitt Romney presidential campaign staffers…
have been involved in spreading anti-Palin spin to reporters, seeking to diminish her standing after the election.
'Sarah Palin is a lightweight, she won't be the first, not even the third, person people will think of when it comes to 2012,'
says one former Romney aide…
'The only serious candidate ready to challenge to lead the Republican Party is Mitt Romney.
"Some former Romney aides were behind the recent leaks to media, including CNN, that Governor Sarah Palin was a 'diva' and was going off message intentionally."

The Palmetto Scoop reported: "One of the first stories to hit the national airwaves was
the claim of a major internal strife between close McCain aides and the folks handling his running mate Sarah Palin."
"I’m told by very good sources that this was indeed the case and that a rift had developed, but it was between Palin’s people and the staffers brought on from the failed presidential campaign of former Gov. Mitt Romney, not McCain aides."
"The sources said nearly 80 percent of Romney’s former staff was absorbed by McCain and these individuals were responsible for what amounts to a premeditated, last-minute sabotage of Palin."
… aides loyal to Romney inside the McCain campaign, said The Scoop, reportedly saw
that Palin would be a serious contender for the Republican nomination in 2012 or 2016, which made her a threat to another presidential quest by Romney.

"These staffers are now out trying to finish her off ….hoping it would ingratiate themselves with Mitt Romney."

"Who's the Palin Leaker from the McCain Campaign?
National Review Online The publication of a Vanity Fair profile of Sarah Palin
appears to have opened old wounds in the McCain campaign.
... the source of the “Diva” leak was Nicolle Wallace’s husband."

"Peeking Out From the McCain Wreckage: Mitt Romney"

"Someone's got to say it: IS MITT ROMNEY RESPONSIBLE FOR OBAMA'S VICTORY?"

"Vanity: Team Romney Sabotaged Palin and Continuing to Do So?"

"Romney Supporters Trashing Palin"

"Romney advisors sniping at Palin?"

Give me any option against Obama and I’ll vote for it. Want to run a Ham-Sandwich against Obama? Let me know where to get some yard signs for the Ham-Sandwich ticket and I’ll plaster the street-side with them.

By example, we all see how effective Biden is in O’s administration, so the answer is ‘no’, Mitt Romney is not my candidate for President in 2012 — period.

Any R ticket is better than Obama. By not voting, or not supporting the R ticket if Romney is on it, is a defacto vote for Obama and all he stands for.

Not voting means full implementation of Obamacare, likely 8 to 10$/gallon gasoline prices, and tax increases like this country has never seen.

Those who would not vote for Romney, distasteful as that might be, are playing right into obama’s hands.

I am going to vote for WHOEVER the republican nominee is this November and I urge everone to do the same.

Obama deserves to lose, he hates America, he hates Americans, he despises Christians and Jews, he got in on a fluke and a fraud by the media and he needs to go.

If we haven’t been able to get a sufficiently conservative nominee, well, I’m sorry, that’s on us.

But we’ll get SOME nominee and we all better work our tushies off, give money, and get that person elected.
