Cats are not needy, they communicate and actually have quite a bit of patience those with which they live, and cats are great security alerts, they are not visible any time a stranger enters their space. So it is comforting to open the door and see them sleeping in the sun, or looking out the glass door waiting for me. Very grounding.
Having a cat is very relaxing. They are experts at relaxation.
