Is The IRS Attempting to Intimidate Local Tea Parties?
Right Side News ^ | February 27, 2012 | Colleen Owens

Posted on 02/27/2012 3:27:44 AM PST by RightSideNews

Exclusive:In January and February of this year, the Internal Revenue Service began sending out letters to various local Tea Party groups across the country. Mailed from the same Cincinnati, Ohio IRS office, these letters have reached Tea Party groups in Virginia, Hawaii, Ohio and Texas (we are hearing of more daily). There are several common threads to these letters: all are requesting more information from these independent Tea Parties in regard to their nonprofit 501c4 applications (for these types of nonprofit, donations are not deductible). While some of the requests are reasonable, much of them are strikingly onerous and, dare I say, Orwellian in nature. What are local Tea Partiers to think with requests like “Please identify your volunteers ” or “are there board members or officers who have run or will run for office (including relatives)”? What possible reason would the IRS have for Tea Parties to “name your donors ” when said donations are non-deductible? These are just a few of the questions asked by the IRS in these letters, and one cannot help but suspect an intrinsic threat encompassing all these demands. (see more letters below) The other question is the timing of these IRS letters requesting reams of copies and hundreds of hours of work and potentially thousands of dollars in accounting/legal fees.(all due in two weeks) Some of these Tea Party groups have not received anything concerning their nonprofit status since 2010 prior to these letters. Using the IRS against “enemies” is a standard Democrat tactic. Hillary Clinton used it almost on a monthly basis.

There was a time when local governments in states hostile to blacks demanded membership rosters for their local NAACP chapters. The Supremes put a stop to that for the same reason that this should be stopped. “List your volunteers” so we can go after them.

So once they have the donor lists, they send letters to the entire list with all sorts of intrusive and threatening questions. How many people will stop giving after a letter from the IRS. Mission accomplished.

I think the request for information should be complied with.

Our local Tez Party group in Illinois, for example has participants including Richard Durbin, Gov. Patrick Quinn, Rahm Emmanuel and of their associates. I understand that we can generate the money order receipts to prove it!

They do?

The article says “tea party groups” are getting the letters - not individuals.

Are you saying individuals are getting these letters too?

Tez = Tea

If Tez existed, it would be Teaberry flavored Pez

Read what I said again. That is my forecast. Once they get the donor lists they will use them to intimidate individual givers. What better way to shut off the income stream than to send letters to the donors? Alternatively, they can use the lists for targeted correspondence audits.

That’s how I look at it.

This is a job for tax lawyers and lawsuits.

The first thing everyone should learn is that the IRS regulations are so vast and convoluted that absolutely no one (including the IRS) can abide by them 100%. That means that we all are criminals since we all break IRS laws.

With that said, at any time, any place and anywhere, the IRS (a real Gestapo) can ruin you financially and/or put you in jail at their whim.

Now, Obama has his “civilian army” activated and fully operational upon his call. The only ones exempt are the 98% of blacks who voted for him.

“Get whitey”...you bet!

Don't know what happened in post #14, my reply dropped. What I had intend to say was that your comment was true but only applied if there was an adverse finding by the IRS. If there is no such finding, there is nothing to challenge, but the sending of the letters will reduce contributions. It is an evil, but probably effective strategy.

When it comes to the IRS, the fact that they sent out a letter, if there’s no cause, is a reason to challenge it.

If you can head off any reason for them to send out letters, that’s a positive thing in itself.

Yes, of course they are.

Oh, if they would go after ACORN with such zeal. Or CAIR. Or any number of Leftie front groups.
