Johnny Cash - God's Gonna Cut You Down
Just a song.
Even though I’ve never been a big country music fan, I’ve always liked Johnny Cash. But I think he did his best work in his final years, when his work took a more spiritual introspective direction, and his voice, roughened by age, just magnificently fits the image. He will probably be remembered for his commercial hits, but this was truly his art.
I like the 1943 Bill Landford & the Landfordaires version that was sampled in Moby’s album “Play”:

I own the last one and it is really good. The Ultimate Gospel is $8.49 on Amazon and has 24 tracks.
His last album was really dark and to the point.
Bump for later. There is a back story.
Truly an amazing song - and the look on June Carter’s face as she watches him sing it is so sad.
I believe the back story is one of which we both know about.
That is where I learned about this song.
That one makes me cry each and every time.
Yes. I think the two I return to most often are “When the Man Comes Around” and “Johnny Cash Hurt.” The visuals in “Hurt” are as incredible as the music, and they match up perfectly.
Agreed.
