First get "Under God" removed, then move on to the REAL target: The Declaration that our rights are ENDOWED by THE CREATOR. This assertion, that our rights are supernaturally based, is the one precept that prevents government from imposing its potential for tyranny upon us.

If "the People" are not independently endowed by the Creator, then neither do the people possess the authority to give their consent for representative government. This is the fundamental definition of "just" government: it is one that governs at the consent of the people. If our rights are extended to us via the good graces of government and not by "the Creator,. . just government is doomed. . .we are doomed.
